Press Release:

Firm Receives Nationwide Permit With Waiver Of 300 Foot Rule For Multifamily Residential Development In Johnson County Kansas

March 26, 2019

David Flick, Principal and Founder of Terra Technologies, announces the firm has received a Nationwide Permit authorizing impacts to jurisdictional waters for the Veteran’s Park Multifamily Residential Development in Shawnee Kansas. Living facilities include five (5) multi-story apartments, twenty-nine (29) duplexes, one (1) triplex, and a clubhouse. The project will help meet the demand for senior living facilities along the Pflumm Road corridor.

Nationwide Permits that authorize impacts to jurisdictional waters resulting from most projects are limited to 300 feet of tributary fill. When requested by the applicant, the US Army Corps of Engineers can evaluate the merits of waiving the 300 foot limitation when impacts occur to a tributary whose function is impaired prior to impact. Impairments are often associated with the absence of riparian corridors and other stream impacts upstream and downstream from the project site.

To offset the loss of jurisdictional waters, the applicant will purchase credits from the Kansas River and Missouri River Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank Sites 1 & 2, in the service area of the project where such surface waters are preserved through perpetuity under management by Terra Technologies.
