David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for the Summit Orchard development project located at the intersection of Chipman Road and Ward Road. The project serves to meet the demand for commercial office, retail, and multifamily living as an important component of redevelopment of the former Western Electric manufacturing site.
Scientists with Terra Technologies completed a jurisdictional assessment of potential waters of the United States within the limits of the proposed development project. A total of 0.44 acres wetlands were identified as jurisdictional waters. Through an iterative review process with the project civil engineer, the development was able to avoid the majority of surface waters and receive authorization without the requirement for compensatory mitigation. Often, the US Army Corps of Engineers will waive the requirement of compensatory mitigation when project impacts are limited to 300 feet or less of stream loss and less than 0.10 acres of loss for all jurisdictional waters.
