David Flick, principal and founder of Terra Technologies, is proud to announce the issuance of a Public Notice by the Kansas State Regulatory Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the proposed establishment of the Neosho River Wetland & Stream Mitigation Bank. Located in Labette County, Kansas, this proposed 200-acre mitigation bank is proposed to be used as compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to streams and wetlands in the downstream portion of the Neosho River watershed within Kansas.
The water quality and wildlife habitat benefits provided by the mitigation bank property will be improved by re-establishing the native habitats that would have existed on the site before agricultural conversion, including naturally sinuous streams, sizeable floodplain wetland areas, and surrounding upland buffers. Specifically, the proposed mitigation activities will include restoring 54.7 acres of riparian buffer; establishing 54.35 acres of wetlands; rehabilitating 45.07 acres of wetlands; enhancing 1.81 acres of wetlands; establishing 32.44 acres of upland buffers; preserving a 1.11 acre pond; stabilizing the bank of the Neosho River; and restoring degraded ephemeral stream channels.
The public notice period is scheduled to end on November 23, 2014.
