David Flick, Principal and Founder of Terra Technologies, announces the firm has received a Nationwide Permit authorizing impacts to jurisdictional waters for Merriam Luxury Imports in Lenexa Kansas. The project will help meet the retail demand for the purchase and servicing of automobiles along the Interstate 35 corridor of mid-western Johnson County Kansas.
Nationwide Permits that authorize impacts to jurisdictional waters resulting from most projects are limited to 300 feet of tributary fill. When requested by the applicant, the US Army Corps of Engineers can evaluate the merits of waiving the 300 foot limitation when impacts occur to a tributary whose function is impaired prior to impact. Impairments are often associated with the absence of riparian corridors and other stream impacts upstream and downstream from the project site.
To offset the loss of jurisdictional waters, the applicant will purchase credits from the Kansas River and Missouri River Umbrella Mitigation Bank where such surface waters are preserved through perpetuity under management by Terra Technologies.
