Terra Technologies successfully designed and permitted a large scale permittee-provided mitigation project for the KDOT Gateway transportation project. In conjunction with Swallow Tail Design Build Inc, the project provided approximately 25,000 stream credits of ecological benefit within the project watershed as compensatory mitigation for stream function losses resulting from the transportation project. The mitigation plan incorporated geomorphic and habitat improvements to several thousand feet of Little Stranger Creek.
Mitigation was performed on land owned by Swallow Tail LLC, the firms wetland and stream mitigation bank company. Swallow Tail also provided the required financial assurances, legal protection, and indemnification to KDOT. As such, the firms were able to deliver a turnkey project to KDOT at a cost 20% below current market for credit purchases from mitigation banks.
