David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for the Hidden Lakes Residential Development in Johnson County, Kansas. The project will help meet the demand for single family development along the K-10 corridor of western Johnson County.
Scientists with Terra Technologies completed site inspections to identify, delineate and map the locations of wetlands and other water bodies, and to document existing site conditions. A total of 0.16 acres of wetlands was identified as unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional waters of the United States. The Corps of Engineers has jurisdiction over all waters of the U.S. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has certified that this Nationwide Permit will not violate existing state water quality standards provided the client complies with the Corps decision.
Due to the permanent loss of wetlands, mitigation credits will be need to be purchased from an approved mitigation bank in the service area of the project prior to the commencement of work within the regulatory jurisdiction.
