Scientists with Terra Technologies completed a jurisdictional assessment of streams and wetlands at a quarry expansion site located in Jefferson County Kansas. The project will help meet the general area demand for quarried limestone products for several years.
The quarry is approximately 147 acres in size. The jurisdictional assessment confirmed the type and extent of 0.16 acre of wetlands, 3359 lineal feet of ephemeral stream channel, and 4527 lineal feet of intermittent channel delineated on the parcel. The limits of such surface waters are determined using the Corps of Engineers 1987 delineation method. The US Army Corps of Engineers reviewed the information and determined the purposed activity will not involve the discharge of dredged or fill material in waters of the United States. Therefore, a Department of the Army permit authorization was not required.
Scientists and engineers at Terra Technologies perform numerous Jurisdictional Assements annually for private and public clients. For more information about such assessments, contact your local office of Terra Technologies.
