David Flick, Principal and Founder of Terra Technologies, announces the firm completed design, permitting, and construction oversight of a substantial wetland and stream permittee-provided mitigation project in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas.
Constructed by Swallow Tail LLC, the project serves to restore approximately 5 acres of historic wetlands and 8 acres of prairies and riparian habitat adjacent to a medium size perennial tributary within the Mill Creek Watershed.
Sited in a geomorphic floodplain, historic wetlands once existed prior to hydrologic manipulation by nearby development projects. The key to project success is the restoration of the historic hydrology through the wetlands prior to reconnection of storm flows to the perennial stream.
