David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for a residential development in Platte County Missouri. The project will help meet the demand for single family homes in the Highway 45 and Interstate 29 area.
Scientists with Terra Technologies completed a jurisdictional assessment of potential waters of the United States within the limits of the proposed development project. The site is approximately 90 acres in size and mainly consists of agricultural pastures with forested land along the stream corridors. There were five wetlands totaling 0.97 acre, five stream channels totaling 1,459 lineal feet, and two ponds totaling 0.89 acre that were delineated within the subject area. Scientists also completed an Indiana Bat/Northern Long Eared Bat Summer Survey for the forested areas. Based on the report, the US Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE) stated the permittee should avoid cutting and clearing trees within the project area during the bats’ active season March 31 – November 1.
The project provides for 7-10 years of phased residential development. In order to replace the lost aquatic resources that result from the authorized project, compensatory mitigation shall be satisfied by an off-site permittee responsible mitigation project located at the Swallow Tail Jowler Creek Mitigation Site in Platte County.
