David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for the City Place Mixed Use Development in Overland Park, Kansas. When completed, t he project will provide 600,000 square feet of commercial office space, 40000 square feet of retail space, and 1382 luxury apartment units. The development is projected to cost $350MM to construct.
Scientists with Terra Technologies completed a jurisdictional assessment of potential waters of the United States within the limits of the proposed development project, including 11 separate farmed and emergent wetland comprising 2.63 total acres and two ephemeral stream channels totaling 2,742 lineal feet. The firm submitted scientific documentation establishing functional impairment of the ephemeral channels.
Due to the permanent loss of a jurisdictional streams and wetlands, the developer will construct 1,160 lineal feet of a new higher function aquatic resource ephemeral stream within a 5+ acre conservation corridor at the project site. An additional 12-acres of off-site mitigation that includes wetland creation will be constructed by the developer at an off-site location adjacent to the Blue River within Overland Park.
