David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for the Benson Place and Fieldstone residential development site in Clay County, Missouri. The project will help meet the demand for single family homes in the area or Interstate 435 and 96 th Street.
Scientists with Terra Technologies completed site inspections to identify, delineate and map the locations of wetlands and other water bodies, and to document existing site conditions. The inspection identified 468 lineal feet of erosional features commonly mistaken as jurisdictional streams. The inspection also identified an extensive reach of intermittent stream, with various low grade wetlands in feeder drainages. A total of 0.24 acres of wetlands was identified as unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional waters of the United States, and the project was authorized by Nationwide Permit 29 (Residential Development). Scientists also completed an Indiana Bat/Northern Long Eared Bat Summer Survey for the forested areas proposed for mechanized clearing. Based on the report, USFWS concurred the clearing would result in minimal impact to the regulated bat species.
Due to the permanent loss of wetlands, mitigation credits will be purchased from Clear Fork Mitigation Bank prior to the commencement of work within the regulatory jurisdiction.
