Construction of the Conservation Corridor at the BNSF Kansas City Intermodal Facility in Edgerton Kansas has been completed. Mitigation under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for the project created 30+ acres of new wetlands and restored 35+ acres of riparian habitat in conjunction with approximately 5,000 linear feet of stream relocation.
Swallow Tail LLC , the firm’s natural resource holding company, will retain ownership, provide long term financial assurance bonds and maintain the mitigation site. A conservation easement for the site is being held by the Midwest Mitigation Oversight Association Inc., a local non-profit conservation group. Construction of habitat improvements was completed by Swallow Tail Design Build Inc. under the supervision of Mike and Jeff Parisi, Superintendents. Oversight and monitoring is being conducted by the scientists and engineers in the Leawood office of Terra Technologies.
