David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces that the firm successfully completed Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting for the Archer Mixed-Use Development in Olathe Kansas. The development will help meet the demand for multifamily residential living and convenience retail services in western Olathe.
Scientists with Terra Technologies visited the site to photo document conditions for the single drainage present within the development limit. The drainage is broad in width, shallow in depth, flat in slope, and likely best characterized as an intermittent tributary. The Corps of Engineers waived the 300 linear foot limit for this authorization, and has determined the adverse environmental effects of the project are minimal, both individually and cumulatively.
The applicant received a Nationwide Permit 39 verification letter authorizing unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional surface waters. To replace the lost aquatic resources resulting from site grading, mitigation credits will be purchased from the Kansas and Missouri River Umbrella Mitigation Bank where such surface waters are preserved through perpetuity under management by Terra Technologies.
For more information about Clean Water Act Section 404 Nationwide Permits that may qualify for a waiver of the 300-foot rule, please contact your local office of Terra Technologies.
