Scientists with Terra Technologies completed a complex wetland delineation for the future site of the Buchanan County Agricultural Expo Center.
The project site is located in unincorporated Buchanan County Missouri and consists of agricultural land with approximately 141.56 acres.
Scientists with the firm completed the complex jurisdictional assessment of potential waters of the United States including ten wetlands totaling 12.12 acres, 630 lineal feet of ephemeral stream channel, and 2,166 lineal feet of intermittent stream channel within the limits of the proposed development project. The limits of such wetlands are determined by the Corps of Engineers 1987 method. A separate set of rules govern whether wetlands are regulated or exempt from Clean Water Act jurisdiction.
Terra Technologies submitted the opinion that all wetlands and streams will likely be considered jurisdictional waters of the United States. Findings were submitted for a final determination from the Regulatory Branch of the US Army. The agency concurred that such wetlands and streams present on the site were considered jurisdictional waters of the United States. As a result, a Clean Water 404 permit authorization will be required prior to site construction.
Scientists and engineers at Terra Technologies perform numerous complex wetland delineations annually. For more information about Wetland Delineations, contact your local office of Terra Technologies.
