David Flick, Principal and Founder of Terra Technologies, announces the firm has received a Nationwide Permit authorizing impacts to jurisdictional waters for construction of private racetracks on a 370-acre parcel in unincorporated Bates County Missouri.
The project incorporates 2.8-miles of circuit track, a separate Go-Cart track, and a maintenance building with vehicle paddock. The track is designed in accordance with Championship Auto Racing Team (CART) standards. Storm water from the paddock is treated with an oil/gas separator, and extensive areas of native grasses and riparian corridors serve to minimize the impact of storm water runoff on receiving tributaries.
Nationwide Permits that authorize impacts to jurisdictional waters resulting from most projects are limited to 300 feet of tributary fill. When requested by the applicant, the US Army Corps of Engineers can evaluate the merits of waiving the 300-foot limitation if impacts occur to tributaries whose function is currently impaired. Impacts to regulated waters are limited to road crossings. To offset the loss of stream function, the applicant will purchase credits from the Camp Branch Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank where such surface waters are preserved through perpetuity under management by Terra Technologies.
