Stream Bank

Stream Stabilization Photo
Streambank Stabilization Photo
The design of natural stream channels represents a core component of our business. Multiple stream bank stabilization projects are currently being designed or are under construction in the greater St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan areas.

Biotechnical stream stabilization for the purposes of erosion and flood control is an approach that is gaining momentum in the current environment of public opinion and permitting criteria. The Clean Water Act, administered through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers via Section 404 permitting, and state water resource permitting requirements are driving the consideration of biotechnical options for stream improvements in urban and suburban environments.

Biotechnical solutions to stream stability problems offer several advantages to traditional engineering solutions:

  • Less Expensive
  • Faster Permitting Timeframe
  • Greater Public Support
  • Less Environmental Impact
  • More Aesthetically Pleasing
  • Increased Wildlife Habitat
